Dear Search Committee, I am seeking to apply for an elementary special education resource classroom position in your school district. I currently have my Illinois professional certification in learning disabilities. I also have my Michigan standard teaching certificate in both elementary education and special education, learning disabilities. I am certified to teach K-5 Elementary (all subjects), K-12 Learning Disabilities, and 6-8 grades in my teaching major, English Language Arts in the state of Michigan. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities. I completed my Master of Arts in Educational Technology degree from Michigan State University in 2020. I am very proud of my academic and teaching record. It has completely prepared me to develop a comprehensive resource classroom and provide leadership in building-wide efforts to cultivate a range of support and intervention. My primary responsibility is to meet and exceed the Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals of all caseload students. In addition to that responsibility, I am seeking to grow school-wide support systems such as Response to Intervention (RTI) and School Wide Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (SWPBIS). My extended involvement as part of an academic and behavior support system can play an integral role in optimizing school wide initiatives. My professional goal is to become an exemplary teacher that creates a collaborative environment that optimizes student outcomes for success in the general education setting. I will encourage greater self-awareness, self-regulation, self-determination, and confidence in my students. I will incorporate comprehensive assessments using summative and formative approaches. This will ensure I am receptive to student needs and accountable to student progression. I will seek to adapt and evolve my instruction using data-based decision making with heavy emphasis placed on procedural fidelity. Please do not hesitate to call or write if I can answer any additional questions. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Sincerely,
